Encaustic means “to heat or to burn in” and uses a medium of beeswax, pigment and resin as the foundation. Originating with Greek shipbuilders waterproofing vessels and decorating statures around the 5th century BC, it thrived in Roman Egypt with the famous Fayum mummy portraits around 1st-3rd centuries AD.

This class expands on methods and techniques taught in the previous class, intended for those who want to further explore and understand the medium.
